New Listing - Reusable Autumn Thanksgiving Banner

Just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday!

Jordan's birthday banner really put me in the mood for autumn, and I had been meaning to make some holiday banners to sell in the shop, so here they are!

Reusable Autumn Thanksgiving Banners! I've listed two of them - you'll be purchasing the one pictured in that listing.

I hope to create some winter and Christmas banners over the next month and may also add some non-banner items as well. Be sure to keep watching the shop for new additions!

Shout Out! - The Red Pistachio

I've wanted a toddler-sized blanket for Milena ever since she was born! I love all the wonderful, handmade quilts and afghans she's received as gifts over the past two years, but I felt she needed something smaller - easier to take with her when we went out of town.

The baby blankets found at The Red Pistachio were exactly what I was looking for! The fabrics they use are all so wonderful, it was difficult to chose just one, but I finally decided on the Chenille and Flannel Baby Blanket in the Butterfly Garden theme. Such bright, happy fabrics! Months later, we still love it! It's just warm enough for chilly nights, and oh so perfect for middle-of-the-day cuddles.

The Red Pistachio also sells burp cloths, bibs, and washcloths. The baby gift sets are perfect for baby showers! And I think the Touch and Feel blankets are a must-have for all little ones.

Playing Catch Up

I can't believe it's been over four months since I last posted! Life got pretty busy this summer, and I took a bit of a break from my Etsy store (apart from a banner here or there), but I'm back now!

And I owe you pictures of the banners I made from the wonderful fabrics I last posted about! Unfortunately, I didn't think to take a picture of the wedding banner before giving it to my friends (but I've e-mailed them with a request!). However, here's a shot of the banner used to celebrate my niece's and dad's birthdays:

Last month underduck received a wonderful review on the small fry after I helped little Jordan celebrate his first birthday with fall-themed banners (you may notice I used the same fabrics I used in the birthday banner above - amazing what a change in felt color can do).

Jordan's banners really put me in the mood for fall and inspired me to purchase more of the same fabric to create some festive "Happy Thanksgiving" banners (watch the store for them later this week!).

New fabrics!

This past week I received two packages of beautiful fabrics in the mail! I'll be using the fabrics to make two banners as gifts - a special "Happy Birthday" banner for my niece, who will be turning 4 (!) next month; and a wedding banner for my friends who are having their reception in a few weeks.

For the birthday girl, I chose this fun collection of fabrics from the Just Dreamy collection by My Minds Eye for Riley Blake. Isn't it just perfect for a little girl's birthday party? And yet it's something that her two older sisters could hang up for their parties as well. (I actually love these fabrics so much, I'm going to use them to make a new birthday banner for our family!).

And I have to give a little Shout Out! to the shop from which I purchased these fabrics, Ladybug Quilt Shop because this fabric shipped mere hours after I purchased it! I will definitely be purchasing from this seller again!

...

The wedding banner fabrics are from the Sandi Henderson "Meadowsweet" collection. I love them because they're a little formal while still being pretty and fun! And I love these two colors together!

...

Now I just need to find the right color felt for both of these projects (something I tend to forget about while searching for the right fabrics!) and then get to work. I love making banners as gifts! I'll be sure to post pictures once the banners are done.

Shout Out! - Brookish

I happened upon this Mr. Darcy Proposal Mug a few weeks back and nearly fell off my chair. That Mr. Darcy's a charmer even on a mug! *swoon*

Although I don't own that mug (not yet, anyway!), I am in possession of another lovely mug from Brookish. My sister gifted me this mug last year (and purchased another for herself), and it's one of my favorite mugs to use. For me, the quotation is a celebration of stay-at-home motherhood!

Looking for a gift for an Austen fan? Or are you yourself a lover of Jane? Then you must check out the mugs & shirts & dishtowels & more at brookish.etsy.com!

New Business Cards

Every once in awhile moo.com and Etsy.com get together and do a promotion where Etsy sellers can get a batch of moo business cards for free. I took advantage of the offer this time around and am so glad I did! The cards look wonderful! Don't you think?

I was able to put my own pictures on the front of the cards, so I will now always have examples on me of what I sell. And they look so much more professional than the cards I'd been printing out on my printer at home! I can't wait to start handing them out!

Fresh Pictures

Hello, spring! Warmer weather and the return of green grass and growing plants means new (outdoor!) pictures for underduck! It makes me want to throw a birthday party outside on our patio! My husband's birthday is this weekend ...

Shout Out! - Little Nurslings

I just received a beautiful wooden nursing necklace
from Little Nurslings. Milena saw it and immediately wanted to play with it, but since it's a gift, I didn't let her sink her teeth into it. The necklace is so nice, I almost don't want to give it away! I'm hoping the mama-to-be will love it just as much as we do!

(both pictures are from LittleNurslings.etsy.com)

Update - Wedding Banner

You may remember this post about a custom banner being given as a wedding present. Well the buyer sent me a picture of the banner being displayed with the wedding cake. Again, I think this is such a great gift to give as a wedding present. I wish I had thought of it when all my friends were getting married.

Congrats again, Amber & Alex!
(PS - your cake looks delicious!)

Custom Birthday Banner

I'm often asked if it's possible to add a name to the "Happy Birthday" banners. Yes, it is possible. But unless your name is "Ed" or "Pam", it's going to quickly become a long banner.

Here's an alternative approach. For this custom order, I created a separate name banner made from the same material used for the "Happy Birthday" banners. This way the banners match, but the birthday banner isn't too long and can also be used for other members of the family!

I hope you have a great birthday, Elijah!

Shout Out! - TinyTangerines

Warmer weather means Milena can wear her cute hats from Tiny Tangerines again!

I'm partial to the kitty hat, since I've actually wanted one like it for years. But both are super cute and warm! The braids are long enough that I can tie them under Milena's chin and then again behind her head so she doesn't try to pull on them or put them in her mouth. She wore them often last fall, and they still look good as new this spring!

Check out TinyTangerines.etsy.com for more adorable crocheted hats! They're available in sizes from newborn to adult for boys and girls.

I think I may need to get Milena the Brown Owl Hat next time!

CLOSED!

I have to close the shop down for a few weeks. I'm having surgery on my eyelid in a few days, and am going to take some time off to recover.

Underduck will reopen at the end of March, so check back then!

Shout Out! - Cliposaurus

Milena just received these adorable hair clippies from Cliposaurus! I love them! Such great colors, and they stay put in Milena's hair. The pink ribbon will be perfect for when we walk in the Race for the Cure later this year.

Check out Cliposaurus.etsy.com for more cute clippies!

Custom Wedding Present

I just finished working on a beautiful banner that's being given as a wedding present. What a fun and unique idea for a gift!

The fabric chosen by the buyer is gorgeous! I can see the banner being hung over the couple's bed or above photographs in their living room.

Congrats, Amber & Alex!

Happy Birthday, Milena!

My beautiful baby girl turned 1 year old today! How did that year go by so quickly?

For her birthday I wanted to give her something she wouldn't grow out of in a few months; something she'd use for years to come. I'm so glad I thought to make her these banners! I love seeing pictures of her on her first birthday with the banners behind her and knowing we'll take similar pictures every year.

Happy birthday, little girl!

I love you!
